Research Methods
In our home lab and/or through collaboration, we employ a wide range of synthetic and characterization methods to reveal new insights in chemical and electronic structure connected to NO signaling, C-H functionalization catalysis, and electrochemical energy conversion with ammonia.
Air-sensitive reactions performed in multiple gloveboxes
fully outfitted for synthesis - and electrochemistry too!
PhDs and postdocs learn X-ray crystallography (undergrads too!)
Members learn DFT methods to analyze and understand reactivity
and predict thermodynamic parameters and kinetic barriers.
X-ray spectroscopy at SLAC - Profs. Chantal Stieber and Kyle Lancaster
